Video blogs, popularly called vlogs, are no longer simple hobbies or diversions for entertainment purposes. Vlogging is the act of publishing videos on video publishing platforms such as YouTube. They have become one of the many ways people are making money online, some of them millions of dollars!
How Much do Vloggers Earn?
In this business, there are those who have made it real big. They command an impressive followership and have been able to convert that followership to 6 and 7 figure incomes. We can’t talk about video blogging without mentioning the likes of PewDiePie; the king of Vlogging, he made over $15 million in 2016 alone and commands an impressive 54 million YouTube subscribers.
Besides PewDiePie, there are others, the likes of the HolaSoyGerman; another Vlogging giant who earns over $5 million yearly, vlogging about comedy, music and video games. There is Evans Fong, a 24 year old Canadian who vlogs about his time spent playing video games, Yuya, a 23 year(just made 30 million in 2020) old beauty vlogger from Mexico just to mention a few.
Realistically, making money in the millions from vlogging is not going to be an easy task, but the good news is you can still make enough to take care of some bills. You only need to invest 3 – 5 hours weekly, a good camera, video editor, some business skills, this guide, and a bang idea! Hitting a $1000 a month with a Vlog is not that far-fetched for someone starting out. The key is in keeping it simple.
Building your vlog’s reputation and viewership to the level where you are making serious money from Google AdSense will definitely take some time and effort, but you can explore other streams of making money from your vlog channel. To better understand the vlog ecosystem and how you can make money from it, let us consider Olga Kay.
Sometime in 2014, the NY Times featured an article on Olga Kay; she is a Vlogger with several channels on YouTube to her credit. She reckons that she lives off Vlogging; she earns $100,000 to $300,000 yearly from Google AdSense. She makes about 20 video posts a week. She has been able to grow her subscriber based to over 1 million and is leveraging on this number to further monetize her vlog.
She has marketed herself and vlog to advertisers that now pay $75 CPR if she shows certain products in her video. Ford gifted her with a car, with 1 year free gas, on the condition that she show the car in a video at least once a month. She just opened her own socks store and she’s sending lots of viewers in L.A. to buy them.
Making money from Vlogging is more about great business sense, and a willingness to make good use of your exposure. It all comes down to your ability to diversify.
YouTube Partners earning potentials is determined by a number of factors, one of which is the type of ads that can be displayed on their videos. Each video uploaded has a target audience, and displayed ads must be relevant to that target; it has to be something they are interested in, and if they are interested in your blog, the ads should be somehow relevant to your content.
Some niches offer more bucks per ad than others. The amount you get paid will also depend on your viewers’ provenance. In all, the CPM for many of the channels varies around $0.30 and $2.50. Getting a little higher than $2.00 per thousand views is the regular amount YouTube channel owners’ earn; only a fraction earn more than $3.00.
From the analysis we just made, you can see that to make money relying only on Google AdSense may not really be a great business strategy. But what we learn from PewDiePie and Olga Kay is that the trick to making real good money from vlogging is to use your platform as a content marketing tool. Vloggers make good money selling their products or that of an affiliate in their videos.
There are a lot of affiliate programs like Clickbank or Amazon that are accessible for anyone. You can get paid if someone clicks a link to their products in your videos’ description box.
How to Become a Successful Vlogger
Starting out may not be easy at first but with these guidelines, you have a rough road map to follow.
- First thing to consider is the topic for your blog; the best way is to find something you are passionate about. It is your passion that will drive the business; it is passion that will make it easy for you to come up with new video post ideas. You don’t have to limit yourself to just one topic, though vlogs that focus on one particular topic (or a small group of related topics) tend to do better and they attract loyal and dedicated followers. It is better to find a topic where you have great knowledge.
Vlogging is not all about educating people on a particular subject–being comfortable at what you do and are willing to share with the world is the important factor here. Many make money sharing their daily life experiences, others from posting the step by step guides for DIY activities.
The key things I have noticed about the most successful vlogs is that above every other thing, the vloggers are real; real people sharing real life experiences, and in doing so, they are educators, they are witty, funny and sometimes thought provoking. In all, they express their passions and their true personalities.
- Next off, you need a camera with great video/audio playback; sometimes you may require a tripod for balance. You’ll also need a computer with video editing software, and the right content. The right content is still the best selling point. Find something you know a lot about and you are able to tell intelligently and in an interesting manner. This will guarantee repeat visits from regular audience and loyalty. If you are promoting a product, the objective should be to create content that would create awareness for the product and encourage sale.
If promoting a product, let your emphasis remain on creating great content. People remain more interested that way. Let your content encourage repeat visits and help you build that needed subscriber base. It is the number of subscribers that would eventually create that 6 figure income.
- Promote your vlog post. You can utilize other social media channels to promote your posts. For added search engine optimization, use Google Instant to research keywords in your niche. Integrate key words into your topic and tags to enable your videos come out tops on search engines.
Google Instant is the embedded search bar feature on Google Search Engine that tries to help you complete your sentence when typing into the search bar. This gives an insight into what users are looking out for within your niche. Use keywords in your research.
How to Setup your Vlog Channel
Once you have settled on what you want to share with the world, you can now follow these steps to creating an account with YouTube and publish your video.
Log on to YouTube and click “Create Account” in the top right-hand corner of the screen. This will lead you to the Google Accounts page, where you will fill in all the necessary fields to create a Google account that will also be your YouTube account. If you already have a Google account, you also have a Youtube account–you just need to sign in using your gmail ID and password.
- Sign on to YouTube
- Setup your account and upload your videos
- Enable monetization of your video
- Create your AdSense account
After you have followed the steps above, you can now publish your video. You will be required to provide information about its content, as this will help Google push the right ads to your video, which can now allow you to make some money. You should also fill in the descriptive information of your video. Take note to use catchy titles, common tags, and keywords. This will help with the SEO of your channel.
Finally, proceed to promote your video within your network on social media, and encourage others to share your post. You can also post the video’s link on forums you frequent, as well as email the link to different bloggers and ask them to post it on their sites. The more your posts are shared on the Internet, the more traffic you are likely to drive to the video.
Do not relent in continuing to make videos and promoting them. You can schedule a regular marketing strategy or take advantage of services which for a token will help in the promotion of your channel.
Making a profitable vlog requires hard work, dedication and time. So I would implore you to go into this with the right mindset and expectations. Set realistic goals and pursue those goals with adequate and targeted action. When in doubt, or if you get stuck, you can always visit forums for solutions to challenges; chances are you’re not the only vlogger out there who is experiencing them.
The opportunities are enormous; I have seen people make money just after a few days of launching their channel. The key is to understanding how to drive traffic. Take it slow, and one day at a time. Pursue knowledge and follow those who have gotten it right and I assure you, you will not lose track.
If you play your cards right, depending on your niche and how much traffic you can drive to your vlog, you could start making money with your video blog anywhere within 3 months to 1 year!

If I were to put into words what January 20th meant to me this would be a memoir of my life. At the point in history for me which came in November, was the day that I saw my vision for a better America become realized! It was on that momentous day that what seemed to be an impossible occurrence was highly probable!
If I were to echo the words of Amanda Gorman, “Unity is the Path forward”, it is Unity that has always been the path forward. I have lived long enough to know that division is a threat to humanity. I have experienced a few occasions where I, as a woman of color, had to defend me for being me, who God has created and will never change.
I found myself standing for what I believe in with times of tiredness. With a question that I often asked myself, “is their something wrong with me?”, the answer each and every time was NO! It’s not who you are it’s who they are. And because I am I have a moral compass, principles, standards that I do not deviate from, like you as My leader in these United States, that sets a tone for how it should be. Reverence for one another with a mutually collaborative humanity.
You were my hope, Mr. Biden, you were all of our hopes and when I first listened to who you are in 2019 on an Oprah SuperSoul Conversation podcast, and agin in 2020, and when you decided to run, I saw hope, change, and unity! I believed in you then and you have not disappointed! I am firstly proud to be an American now, I am proud to feel the way I need to feel and express myself in a healthy healing manner that is authentic to me, and I am proud to call you My President, and yes, Madame Vice President Kamala Harris, with no hesitation and an unwavering confidence! I trust you both!
The image that you see here attached (part of my merchandise designs) to this post is my vision on how I saw you both in an America United where we live in a mutually inclusive world where all people are created equally. That’s the way it should be.
- P.S. I was glad to be a part of your Transition Team, I write and speak a lot about the need for people to transform to become part of a healthy society and transition is key. It was time and I am so happy to witness and be a part of history and humanity, finally!
I love you all and nothing but best wishes on your journey ahead, I will be following you all and taking part in something I had something to do with and as a culmination of what a healthy and non judgemental society with two amazing leaders at the helm, with incredible partners and children by your side, leading and shaping America as it should be!
Godspeed!! Nothing but love for you all!
With most of the world on strict lockdown and no prospect of returning to the office any time soon, 2021 is playing out like much of last year so far, and people all over the country are understandably frustrated and tired. With uncertainty around the future and remote working continuing for most, staying motivated at work is crucial for us to maintain positive momentum and mindset this year.
For 2021, a recent study by YouGov shows changing careers is still within the top 5 resolutions for Britons, particularly within the 18-24 age group, and more employees are looking to climb the career ladder this year. As we’ve settled into new work, flexible schedules, and working remotely, managing work-life balance may be slightly more straightforward, but staying motivated may be challenging.
Here are seven ways to help boost your motivation at work all year round, according to Workspace Specialists Instant Offices:
1. Prioritize Mental Health
Now more than ever, mental health needs to come first. Uncertainty from the pandemic and additional stresses make it even more difficult for us to focus. On the one hand, you might be throwing yourself into work to avoid having to address other issues, leading to burnout, or you’re completely detached from work because of stress from COVID, lockdown, and other elements. Now is the time to put yourself first to flourish this year.
2. Practice Gratitude
With all the uncertainty and stress from the pandemic, it’s very easy to become despondent, making it even more challenging to be motivated for work. Being thankful for what you have can lift your spirits. Dr. Robert Emmons, an expert on the science of gratitude, has found that those who practice gratitude at work have better relationships with themselves and others, allowing them to work better.
3. Find Career Support
More content is available online than ever before due to most people offering services, classes, and expertise online during the lockdown. Take charge of your career track this year by finding a mentor willing to share their insights and experience. In addition to guiding you on career growth and decision making, their constructive feedback can help you expand your skillset. Fortune 500 companies understand the value of mentorship – 71% offer formal mentoring programs to their employees.
4. Stay Busy
Around 40% of UK employees admit to being bored at work, and more than half think their existing skills are being wasted. Boredom at work is a significant source of stress and can lead to depression and disinterest. Ensure you take regular breaks during long tasks, even when working from home, but if you’re in a quiet period, keep yourself busy by learning a new skill that can bolster your career.
5. Upskill Yourself
Increase your value at work by learning a new skill. If you’re working from home and have more time on your hands, taking an online course or reading up on something you’re interested in can only benefit you and your career. During lockdown in the UK, 24% tried to learn a new language, while 19% brushed up on IT and digital skills.
6. Use Holiday Time
Having small breaks throughout the year instead of saving all of your holidays for the end of the year can really benefit your mental health in the long run. Even if you’re working from home, taking some time away from your devices, emails and workstations can be very refreshing. You don’t need to venture far from home for a holiday either. If restrictions allow it, go for a walk or simply get outside to restimulate your mental space.
7. Ask for an Increase
As of August 2020, 37% of Britons think they deserve to be paid more for their jobs, according to YouGov. A poll of 5,000 people showed 68% hadn’t received a pay rise or promotion in the last year, leading to unhappiness at work. If you’re committed to your job but need more to keep you motivated, it’s definitely time to stop stalling and ask for a raise.
Nobody knows what 2021 will bring but taking charge of our happiness one step at a time will help contribute to a better work-life ahead for the new year.

It’s been a rollercoaster, but Pink and husband Carey Hart have celebrated 15 years of marriage. Their love story provides lessons that can benefit anyone.
Pink (Born Alicia Moore) and Hart’s union has been a crazy ride that many would have long bailed on.
From Pink’s bloody tire-slashing fiasco to an 11-month separation and a looming divorce, they’ve been through the wringer and back. Oh, and throw in kids and crazy work schedules that leave little time for the couple to smooth things out.
“Carey would see me for five days and be gone for six weeks. We’d try to fix everything in those five days — you just can’t do that,” Pink told Redbook.
The pressures of being a wife and mother came to a head recently, when Pink and her son Jameson both contracted COVID-19. A “terrifying” ordeal, the pop star called it “the most physically and emotionally challenging experience I have gone through as a mother.”
While it’s been rough at times, Pink has grown to appreciate that marriage isn’t all rainbows and unicorns.
“Marriage is awful, wonderful, comfort and rage. It is boring, terrifying, and a total nail biter”
Marriage, like life, brings all kinds of challenges and adversity. Pink learned that you can’t enjoy the rainbow without the rain, and love is no exception.
Work on yourself
When the going gets tough, most couples resort to finger-pointing and trying to “fix” each other. “Fixing a spouse is a euphemism for ‘be reasonable and do it my way,” says marriage counselor Alisa Ruby-Bash.
The outcome is usually resentment, anger, or — as Pink and Hart almost discovered — divorce.
However, as the saying goes, ‘When you point one finger, there are three fingers pointing back to you.’
After realizing that she’d “spent six years trying to change someone else,” Pink had to take a hard look in the mirror. It was eye-opening.
“I think that that was a great distraction for me to not really have to look at myself and see what I had to change in me… it was very humbling for me. I’m not perfect”
The pop star praises therapist Vanessa Inn with helping both her and Hart be their best selves for each other. Ultimately, she says “it’s the only reason that we’re still together.”
Experience has taught Pink that marriage is all about “loving another fallible creature while trying to love yourself.” You can only bring your best when you are your best.
Anyone worth loving is worth fighting for
“15 years. Proud of us babe. See, sometimes being stubborn pays off”
They were on the brink of “calling it quits”, according to People. As it was a first marriage for both of them, Pink and Carey Hart could have chalked it up to a learning experience and moved on.
But they didn’t.
Instead, Pink still sees in Hart the motocross star she fell in love with and proposed to at one of his races 15 years ago.
Instead, Hart still sees in Pink his…everything.
“There is no other woman that I would want to go through this crazy world with than you. Thanks for being a great friend, wife, mother, and person”
They worked through the struggles, worked on themselves, never gave up on each other and are stronger for it. As COVID-19 tests marriages more than ever, it’s a story that can give everyone hope.
